Excel useful shortcuts and Formulas

Hello Everyone

Recently, I have been exploring MS Excel and its vast options, getting to know its useful features, formulas and shortcuts. Listing below some of the shortcuts which could be used to speed up our Day to Day Excel Tasks

Shortcuts

1. Press F2 when a Cell is selected- This will enable you to edit the values in that Cell

2. CTRL+W-  Close the workbook

3. CTRL+1- Open Format Cells

4. CTR+; – Enter current date- Probably the most used for myself

5. CTRL+ Home- Move to the beginning of the worksheet

6. CTRL + PgDown- Switch next worksheet

7. ALT + Enter- In Cell Editing mode, enter a line below

8. CTRL +Y- Redo

9. CTRL+ Space- Select the Entire Column- Super Useful

10. SHIFT+ Space- Select the Entire Row- Super Useful

11. CTRL+D- To fill the selected cell with the content of the cell above it

12. CTRL+K- To insert hyperlink in the cell

13. CTRL+R- To fill the selected cell with the content of the cell on the left

14. CTRL+5- To put a strike through in a cell

15. CTRL+Shift+;- To enter current time in a cell

16. CTRL+F1- To expand or collapse the ribbon

17. ALT+F+T- To open the Excel options

18. ALT+Down Arrow- To open filters for cells

19. ALT+H+H- To select a fill color

20. ALT+H+B- To add a border

21. CTRL+ALT+ + – To zoom in inside a workbook

22. CTRL+ALT+ –  – To Zoom out inside a workbook

23. ALT+H, then O, R- Edit excel sheet name

24. ALT+7- Put bullet inside a cell

Formulas

  1. Formula to get BIGGEST number out of multiple numbers in columns- =MAX(number1, number2, number3) etc- This will display the BIGGEST number out of all the numbers mentioned in the formula
  2. Formula to get SMALLEST number out of multiple numbers in columns- =MIN(number1, number2, number3) etc- This will display the SMALLEST number out of all the numbers mentioned in the formula
  3. Rounding Off to .50 – mround(“cell number”, .5)
